Nokia 5230 3G
Nokia has recently released a new 3G Mobile in India The Nokia 5230 3G. This is one of Nokia’s lower end touch screen phones, a nice set of features and the symbian s60v5, makes it one of the better smart phones in this price range. Though Nokia is generally renowned for it’s battery life rather than feature set, this one bucks the trend.
It has a 3.2 inch touch screen. Though this seems pretty large at first, you eventually get over it. One of the minuses is the fact that it doesn’t come with a Microsoft office package. You need to download it at the Nokia website. It has a beautiful 320*640 resolution screen. It uses a HSDPA connection. The 3g is capable of 3.2 megabytes per second. It has a 128mb RAM. It doesn’t come with a memory card in the pack which is a major downside. It has SMS, MMS, E-mail and I-M capabilities. The 5230 has 3 buttons in the front. One is a multi-purpose cancelling button. Other is a multi-purpose proceed button. Final one is Menu button that doubles as a minimize button. The operation of the phone is quite smooth and the shortcut keys are very useful. The 5230 unlike many other touch phones is capable of multitasking to a huge extent.
Primary Camera is a 2mp VGA cam that doesn’t have a flash. Its brightness sensor is great though, so taking pictures in low light is still okay, however in very low-light environments the camera falls below expectations. The 5230 can play both flash and java applications as well as videos. Along with .sis files. The 5230 has 7hrs of talk time on a 2G network and 4½ hours of talktime on 3G. It has 420 hrs of standby time.

The Speaker quality (and especially volume) is not very good, if you plan on playing music for friends this phone just doesn’t cut it.
Other features include Bluetooth, GPRS, GPS and EDGE among other data transfer tools.
Nokia 5230 3G Pros:-
- Full QWERTY input.
- Can use T9 as well. Also has handwriting recognition.
- Great apps from Nokia OVI store.
- Can play S60v5 games and software.
Nokia 5230 3G Cons:-
- No Wi-Fi
- Very Basic Camera
- Low loudspeaker volume.
- No inbuilt office viewer
- No DivX support.
- Cannot read (too) well in sunlight, a glare is present when opposed to direct sunlight.
Apart from these cons the Nokia 5230 is an amazing phone and one I would suggest to the average 3G desirous phone user, albeit one with some apps demands.
Nokia 5230 3G Price in India Rs. 7800 .
